Lighthearted Love

Lighthearted love
is all they wanted
Lighthearted love
like a summer breeze
Lighthearted love
was all they needed
So they’d have
Lighthearted memories

They met on the internet
in a chatroom at four am
Both couldn’t sleep a wink
and exhausted from the gym
They were young and striving
on opposite sides of the States
But had something in common
They were tired of dead-end dates

Lighthearted love
is all they wanted
Lighthearted love
like a summer breeze
Lighthearted love
was all they needed
So they’d have
Lighthearted memories

They shared their horror stories
That night they couldn’t sleep
Then soon it was morning
She didn’t think he was a creep
They logged in the next night
Happy the other was online
It seemed to be predestined
Like it was all from God’s design

Lighthearted love
was what had begun
Lighthearted love
Growing in their hearts
Lighthearted love
was all that mattered
Even though
they were many miles apart

And the next few weeks they shared
their life stories across the miles
They told each other their secrets
and they confided about their trials
So on one sunny day half way
Between Manhattan and LA
They met in Central Illinois
Shared a meal and bottle of Cabernet

Lighthearted love
is what they had then
Lighthearted love
without drama or strife
Lighthearted love
is what they share now
He’s her good husband
and she’s his great wife

He’s her good husband
and she’s his great wife
