The Truth About Me and You

When you learned the truth about me
Did you see what you thought I’d be
Did you have feelings inside
That you wouldn’t hide
Did you analyze what you could only see

When you learned the truth about you
Did your heart tell you it already knew
Did you really come clean
How you’ve been so mean
Did you recognize what we’ve been through

It’s unrelenting and unreal
What we do and how we feel
And there’s not much that can be done
When you can’t tell me how you are
On the beach, at home or in our car
You never know, it could be fun
More fun than keeping secrets
And telling it all to your close friends
Deeper than anything we’ll ever do
And oh, that’s the truth
Oh you know it’s the truth
That’s the truth about me and you

When you learned the truth about us
Did you ponder about it all, because
I thought about it night after night
How something could remain right
After all the wrong it always was

It’s unrelenting and unreal
What we do and how we feel
And there’s not much that can be done
When you can’t tell me how you are
On the couch, in bed or from afar
You never know, it could be fun
More fun than keeping secrets
And telling it all to your close friends
Deeper than anything we’ll ever do
And oh, that’s the truth
Oh you know it’s the truth
That’s the truth about me and you

The lies, the hurt, the pain
Disappear and come back again
They don’t stop and I am confused
If it’s my soul feeling out of control
And only the half of a whole
That doesn’t see we’re both abused

It’s unrelenting and unreal
What we do and how we feel
And there’s not much that can be done
When you can’t tell me how you are
On the beach, at home or in our car
You never know, it could be fun
More fun than keeping secrets
And telling it all to your close friends
Deeper than anything we’ll ever do
And oh, that’s the truth
Oh you know it’s the truth
That’s the truth about me and you
That’s the truth about me and you

That’s the truth about me and you.
