Chaminade

A long, long time ago
In the hills of Santa Cruz
I accepted a front desk job
At a place called Chaminade

I had never done it before
But it never gave me the blues
It didn’t make me sad or sob
At that place called Chaminade

It really made me smile
I loved getting a free meal
My co-workers and Supervisors
Were easy to get along with
We all respected each other
We were a team who played fair
There was something in that air
That was healthy for our souls

Each guest enjoyed their stay
I laughed almost every day
I know now the lasting gift I got
From that place called Chaminade

It really made me smile
I loved serving the guests
I felt welcomed and so included
Forever, I could have stayed
I got a call from my dear Brother
Who asked me to work in Illinois
We got along as young boys
Moving was one of my goals

Now I’m an older, wiser man
I drive others and write songs
I have a family and love God
And yearn to return to Chaminade

And yearn to return to Chaminade.
