Her Medication

Oh I know she knows I try to be her medication
The kind that helps with soothing her pain
The kind that pairs well with a blanket as she’s
looking out the window & watching the rain

Oh, I know she knows I want to heal her hurt
The kind that gets hidden by a fake smile
The kind that chips away at a broken heart
That can’t be fixed by a drive mile after mile

I’m not willing to sit here as she suffers
From the illness clouding up her brain
I’m not giving up just because others think
she’s like a grade school bully & insane
Cause I’ve seen her sparkle & shine
Without depending on a bottle of wine
I’ll stay with her, hold her hand in mine
Be the calm breeze, have that dedication
One that she craves from her medication

Oh, I know she knows I’ll hold my tongue
when she’s demanding & doesn’t stop
And kind of like every enemy I’ve ever had
That’s treated me like a suspicious, angry cop

But
I’m not willing to sit here as she suffers
From the illness clouding up her brain
I’m not giving up just because others think
she’s like a grade school bully & insane
Cause I’ve seen her sparkle & shine
Without depending on a bottle of wine
I’ll stay with her, hold her hand in mine
Be the ocean’s breeze, have that dedication
One that she craves from her medication

Her medication,
Her medication,
With quiet dedication,
like an ocean’s breeze
I’ll be her medication
Her medication
