Bourbon River (For Willie Nelson)

Bourbon River flows through green ‘n rolling hills
It winds its way through the valleys and mills
It’s where nature takes its time ‘n course
It’s a place to relax ‘n find your true source

Bourbon River is a place of beauty n’ serenity
Where to escape from the big city’s vanity
It’s where souls rebuild ‘n find their way
Bourbon River is where to move to, then stay

Bourbon River flows through the woods n’ fields
It’s a place to wander n’ let your worries yield
A place to breathe ‘n find your strength n’ will
Where no one has the inner need to hunt ‘n kill

Bourbon River is a place of beauty n’ serenity
Where to escape from the big city’s vanity
It’s where souls rebuild ‘n find their way
Bourbon River makes you feel everything’s OK

Bourbon River runs through my native state
Where hearty suppers are served on blue plates
It’s a place where I get along with everyone
I’m a Captain there ‘n we have priceless fun

It’s where I discovered peace one fateful day;
I can’t wait to get back to Bourbon River, USA

Lyric Note:
Definitely my answer to “Whiskey River,” a Willie Nelson favorite. I dedicate it of course, to Willie. My kindred spirit.
