Lay Down Your Guns

Verse 1:
In this land of freedom, where our voices should be heard
Too many guns are out there causing death and hurt
Our schools and streets are not safe, and we can't ignore
The price we pay for our right to bear arms
is much too high, much too high

Chorus:
So lay down your guns, and let's make a change
It's time for peace to take its place
We don't need weapons to make us feel strong
Our hearts and our words can carry on

Verse 2:
The bullets fly too often, ripping families apart
If you say it's the price of freedom, you’re not smart
We need to come together, put our differences aside
To work towards a safer world,
where peace can thrive, peace can thrive

Chorus:
So lay down your guns, and let's make a change
It's time for peace to take its place
We don't need weapons to make us feel strong
Our hearts and our words can carry on

Verse 3:
We must protect our children, our neighbors and friends
From the violence and destruction that gun culture sends
It's time for common sense, and a shift in our hearts
To realize that more guns
won't heal the world, heal the world

Chorus:
So lay down your guns, and let's make a change
It's time for peace to take its place
We don't need weapons to make us feel strong
Our hearts and our words can carry on

Let's stand together, for a world without guns
Where love and compassion can finally run
It won't be easy, but we must make a start
To heal our wounds and end violence tearing us apart
