Where’s My Veronica?

She’s the girl on my street
She’s light on her feet
She knows me all too well
I like her so, so much
Though our lips never touched
And her secrets I won’t tell

And if she’s my Betty
Then where’s my Veronica?
Yeah if she’s my Betty
Then where’s my Veronica?
If she’s not who I’m meant for
Then there’s someone else for me
Yeah, if she’s my Betty
Then I know I’ll be
Veronica’s cup of tea

Ronnie won’t be demure
Oh yeah, she’ll be the cure
For this hunger inside my heart
And she’ll deeply know
I won’t ever let her go
Even if one day, we part

But if Betty’s here
And Veronica is found
A girl like Cherry Blossom
Will most likely be around
She’ll be judging us all
Making us feel so small
I’ll want to save her as well
Cause she’s going through hell
Her family life is hell

Jughead Jones is my friend
Betty would be good for him
Opposites though, they are
Maybe if I write a great song
Ronnie will want to sing along
and we’ll double date in my car

So if Betty‘s across the street
Then where’s my Veronica?
Yeah if Betty’s across the street
Then where’s my Veronica?
If Betty’s not who I’m meant for
And I can’t be with Miss Grundy
who lives far away & too old for me
Then I know I’ll be
Veronica’s cup of tea
Yes I know I’ll be
Veronica’s cup of tea

Lyric Notes: This is the second song lyric I’ve written that was inspired by Riverdale. Songs inspired by Pop Culture isn’t new and I’m slowly figuring out that it’s a really great way to step inside various characters. In this case, it’s a teen character who is empathizing with Archie Andrews from Riverdale because a girl who is good friends with lives on his street and he figures out people in his life there in town could be just like those in the show!

I Left My Heart in Riverdale (Archie’s Song)

God, I miss it there so much
All the people I deeply knew
Such good memories we made
With those exciting things we’d do

Shakes at Pop’s Chock Lit Shoppe
And all those dances we’d attend
We knew we could count on each other
When our hearts needed to gently mend

Through a best friend’s talk
or just an afternoon scenic walk
We were so sincerely concerned
about each other and we learned

About what being a good person is
and what a good person is not
About giving of yourself with your time
About putting in everything you’ve got
In whatever you choose to do
If it’s writing songs or hiking on a trail
I now regret some decisions I made
Silly me, I left my heart in Riverdale
Silly me, I left my heart in Riverdale

Betty was always right there unconditionally
and I deserved her ending up with Jughead
But what hurt me was when Veronica and me
stopped not only sharing feelings and the bed

We called off the wedding cause we were afraid
That we were making a horrible mistake
Like Cherry Blossom probably felt inside
When she gave less than she chose to take

I still think about those high school years
With all the people there in that small town
I wonder if they sometimes think of me too
and if Juggy’s still wearing that crown

I think about what being a good person is
and what a good person is not
About what I gave of myself and all the time
I spent on others & something important I forgot
Avenging what happened to my Dad
It was wrong, it’s too late, I’m in jail
I thought, at life, I would never, ever fail
Silly me, I left my heart in Riverdale
Silly me, I left my heart in Riverdale

Silly me, I left my heart there
in our beloved Riverdale.

Lyrics Notes:  I totally love the new plot twists of Riverdale and I identify with Archie, even though I didn’t go through all those things he did, it certainly makes sense that he did have to eventually leave his beloved Riverdale due to something bad.  This is that fan-fictional type of song imagining that happening and what could happen to the characters in their future which is of course, up in the air as of this writing. Hope you enjoy it!
