Not All Kisses Lead To More

If I could tell myself at seventeen
One thing that would solve a mystery
I tried to figure out for years and years
That would save me from crying tears
It would be that if you kiss someone
It could only be a “one and done”
Sparks may fly for you but not for her
Then you’re questioning what you were

Not all kisses lead to more
Not all romance ends in ever after
Not all girls will get your humor
And you’ll be stuck without laughter
But don’t lose hope, one will work
She won’t think that you’re a jerk
And your lips may end up so sore
But not all kisses lead to more

Your first one might be sloppy
Your second one might be fun
Your third might drive her crazy
The next might hurt you a ton
Cause she’ll be conflicted
She won’t know what to do
She loved everything about it
But she won’t fall in love with you

Not all kisses lead to more
Not all romance ends in ever after
Not all girls will get your humor
And you’ll be stuck without laughter
But don’t lose hope, one will work
She won’t think that you’re a jerk
And your lips may end up so sore
But not all kisses lead to more

So you’ve got to be careful
Don’t kiss every girl you date
You’re tempting who’s not for you
By then it will be too soon or too late
Just be honest with yourself about it
And they’ll appreciate that for sure
Not locking lips with good friends
Might be the best solution and cure

I speak from my experience
I’ve lost some of my best friends
As I toed that line then crossed it
And we couldn’t make amends
So if you have to think it over
Whether you and her should kiss
I think you should stop right there
Because you know you will miss

Not all kisses lead to more
Not all romance ends in ever after
Not all girls will get your humor
And you’ll be stuck without laughter
But don’t lose hope, one will work
She won’t think that you’re a jerk
And your lips may end up so sore
But not all kisses lead to more

Your lips might get so red, wet, and sore
But not all kisses lead to more
